Ysgol Yr Ystog

Churchstoke Primary School is a Community primary school, serving the communities of Churchstoke, Mellington, Pentre, Hyssington, White Grit and the surrounding area including areas of Sarn.  The intake is ranging from 4+ to 11+ years.  We are a village school where every child is known as an individual.

Through the Curriculum of Wales the pupils have the opportunity to develop their bilingualism.

The rear of the school overlooks the open countryside and the children are fortunate to have the use of a large school field as well as the adjacent Community Field.  The immediate environment plays an important part in our work.  In addition to the school field there is a hard surface playing area, adjoining quiet garden areas and we have the use of the adjacent Community Hall and Recreation Field for sports, concerts and other activities.

We provide a breakfast club and after school club.  Little Explorers Preschool which provides places from 2 years old within the school grounds.

Purple Mash

We have just started a trial of the Education website Purple Mash. Purple Mash is an award-winning website for nursery and primary school children. It enables children to explore and enhance their knowledge in a fun and creative way. We have the use of the site on a trial basis for the next 30 days and we are hoping that the children will get plenty of opportunities to have a look, both at school and from home. The children will all have usernames and passwords so that they can access the features from home as well as from school – please ask them to show you what they are doing!

The site is linked from the school website here or can be found at https://www.purplemash.com/sch/churchstokecpschool.

Texaco Fuel Star Rewards

Churchstoke School has a Group Account with the Texaco service station at the local Co-Operative (Harry Tuffins).

If you, your family or friends purchase their fuel from Texaco Churchstoke you can donate your points to our School Group Account.

The School Membership Card is held behind the counter in the garage – it’s easy to donate your points, just tell the member of staff serving you that you wish to donate your Points to Churchstoke School and they will do the rest.

We have claimed £240 so far this year from points donated to our account, which has been used to purchase additional resources for the classrooms.

Thank you for your continued support.

Harvest sale

Thank you to everyone for all their hard work in turning the harvest gifts into soup, sauce, jam, pies and all the other produce. The children had great fun and a total of £85 was raised. There is still some soup and apple sauce left, and plenty of apples from the orchard if anyone wants to come back for seconds!

Pirate Day

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Ahoy me hearties. A big thank you to the children who were incredibly well behaved pirates throughout the entire day. You all did yourself proud and were a pleasure to spend the day doing pirate activities with. We had great fun keeping scurvy away with our fruit salad and hunting for treasure round the school.  Thank you to all of the parents who sent the children dressed up looking fabulous or just with the enthusiasm to join in with the day, your help makes a big difference to the success of events in school so thank you.

We had a great day of pirate activities.
